Two Salzburg addresses you won't want to miss
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756 and is the city’s most famous son. He was born in Hagenauer Haus, located at No. 9 Getredegasse. Today it houses one of two museums about Mozart.
“Mozart Geburtshaus” is a pilgrimage site for classical music enthusiasts. You won’t miss it with its yellow façade and large golden inscription. The whole area, a part of the Old Town, is charming to explore.
During your visit, you’ll get to wander through the different rooms of this apartment. They were reconstructed as authentically as possible.
Across the water, you’ll also find the Mozart Residence (“Mozart-Wohnhaus”). This is where the family moved after Hagenauer Haus. This new location gave them more spacious living quarters. Mozart lived here until 1780 when he left Salzburg.
