The highest railway station in Europe
The Jungfraujoch railway station is perched at an altitude of 3,454 metres (11,332 feet) on the slopes of the Jungfrau mountain. It’s been nicknamed the “Top of Europe”, as it’s the highest railway station in the Alps.
You can get here by hopping aboard the Jungfraubahn train from the mountain station of Kleine Scheidegg. The journey takes around 40 minutes one way.
It’s also possible to switch trains and connect to Jungfraujoch from Kleine Scheidegg. You can do this by taking the Wengernalpbahn train from Lauterbrunnen (40 minutes) or Grindelwald (30 minutes).
Once you arrive, you’ll soon discover that Jungfraujogch is so much more than a train station. These are just some of the things you can do during your visit:
- Take a lift to the Sphinx Terrace at 3,571 metres (11,715 feet) above sea level for views of the longest glacier in the Alps.
- Enjoy snow and ice year-round from Jungfrau’s glacier platform.
- See dazzling sculptures on a tour of the Ice Palace.
- Marvel at views of the Swiss, French, Italian and German Alps.
- Learn about the railway’s history, spanning over 100 years, at the multimedia exhibition.
- Treat yourself to a delicious souvenir from the world’s highest Lindt chocolate shop.
- Combine Swiss cuisine with jaw-dropping views at one of the station’s restaurants.
